Install TripTally
on your Android

Follow the steps below — it takes about 60 seconds.
No Google Play needed.

Open the downloaded file

Pull down your notification shade from the top of your screen. You'll see triptally.apk listed under your downloads. Tap it to open.

Can't find it? Open your Files app (or My Files on Samsung) and look in the Downloads folder.

Allow installs from your browser

Android will ask if you want to allow your browser to install apps. Tap Settings, then turn on Allow from this source, then go back and tap Install.

Samsung devices: Go to Settings › Biometrics & Security › Install unknown apps and enable your browser there.

Tap Install

Android will show you a standard install screen with the app icon and permissions. Tap Install at the bottom. The app will install in a few seconds.

Grant location permission

When you start your first trip, TripTally will ask for location access. Choose Allow all the time so GPS tracking works in the background when you switch apps.

Battery tip: For uninterrupted GPS, go to Settings › Apps › TripTally › Battery and set it to Unrestricted.

Open TripTally and start driving

Tap Open on the install screen or find TripTally in your app drawer. Log your first shift, connect your car's Bluetooth for auto-start, and you're all set.

Troubleshooting

⚠️ "App not installed" error
This usually means a previous version is conflicting. Go to Settings → Apps → TripTally and uninstall it, then try installing the new APK again.
🔒 "Blocked by Play Protect"
Tap More details then Install anyway. TripTally is safe — Play Protect warns about all APKs installed outside the Play Store.
📁 I can't find the downloaded file
Open your browser's download history (tap the three-dot menu → Downloads) and tap the file directly from there.
📍 GPS doesn't track in the background
Set TripTally's battery mode to Unrestricted in Settings → Apps → TripTally → Battery. Also disable battery optimisation for TripTally in your phone's battery settings.

Already installed? Open the app and start tracking.
